Tranmission Flash a success |
|
Well I got a reflash from GAP Friday, and thanks to Pat for the instructions went ahead and closed my eyes and did the reflash to cure the Cali Stop clank issue in my 2005 LR3. I must say so far the vehicle is running better than it ever has. Now this did not totally cure the hard downshift issue I was experiencing but it has definitely stopped the clunk of rolling acceleration I was experiencing. I too had adjusted my driving habits, but every now and then when needing to quickly accelerate I had a definite issue. I was researching Torque Convertor replacement due to this issue but now I think I can let that ride a while as this has certainly helped if not halted the issue.
Best $34.00 I have spent so far on the Rover. IMO do it. I may have also gained a couple tenths on mpg do to adjusted shift points. Time will tell about that as I will need to track it in real time not from the dash readout, which did show 1.5 plus mpg. That in itself may have paid for the flash. 2005 Land Rover D3, 4.4L V8, Maya Gold Metallic

Did mine a couple of years ago and still have the car.
Other top tip is to change the gearbox oil annually using Filos method, fast and pretty much mess free.

Buy a “fast lane” from their site for the transmission.

So what problem were you experiencing exactly? I seem to have a hesitation when wanting to pull away quickly from a stop or in a certain circumstance where I have to cross 2 lanes of a dual carriageway into a central reservation, when I slow to check if it’s clear to go and then accelerate there is a definite hesitation. I’m not experiencing any other gearbox issues, I done a flush last year and replaced the sump and filter.

It’s a problem when slowing down to a stop and you get a clunk
