I had a td6 for over 2 years , apart from an injector failing it was very reliable

I think in the BMW version once the Vortex Breather, EGR, swirl flap valves are removed and blanked they are quite a solid unit, and very tunable.
A colleague in Germany regularly thrashes his tuned 535 up the Autobahns from near the Austrian border to a customer near Genk in Belgium and always arrives with a smile on his face - I think his is pushing 330BHP and when run at reasonable speeds regularly turns in around 50MPG on a run! Must stop buying shiny toys....
