Front suspension lower ball joint/wish bone. |
|
I think that i need to change the front suspension lower ball joints and/or wish bone bushes. My Disco has started to wander with the camber of the road and feel slightly "floaty" through the steering - as described in other articles. Has anyone done this task themselves and can they offer any advice? In particular:
1 - Having jacked up the vehicle, removed the road wheel etc and undone the Nyloc nut, does the ball joint lift up and out of the hub assembly without having to remove the front drive shaft?
2 - Land Rover sell the ball joint and 2 bushes seperatly to overhaul each wish bone. Is it a reasonable task to change these , or just wishful thinking and better just to buy the complete wish bone? (I do have access to a press at work).
3 - Any ideas of any torque wrench settings?
Thanks in advance for any advice. Tim.

Suggest you get a days subscription to GTR www.landrovertechinfo.com if you're changing the lower bushes then a four-wheel alignment will be required, most dealers can do this but there's also an independent company who can do it
