It will be ironic if JLR offer you 'cheap' insurance so you spend big bucks on a new car (or existing car?) only for them to fleece you alive next year Whistle

Just saying..........

AVERAGE insurance of less than £200 PER MONTH.

That’s £2400 per year

I’m just about to start this annual dance. Last year the Volvo was £614, this time DL are asking £1064. A quick compare the meerkat shows cheapest being LV at over £1100.

We are being fleeced once again. Where do these companies think we are getting our money from. Anyone else looking to find a money tree.

its probably cheaper now for a newly licensed 18 year old lad to insure his first car than it is for us old folk who have worked hard to achieve our lovely cars

be interesting to see the numbers of uninsured drivers on the road as its cheaper to take the fine and points than it is to pay for insurance

I was watching a youtube channel last night called Its Joel.... bloke in his late 20's early 30's who buys cheap cars, discusses them and does reviews on newer cars

A few months back he bought a '54' Volvo XC90 for £800 which was a really a scrapper. Hes spent the last few months doing some bits himself, and farming out some work to proper garages in order to pass its MOT. Hes just done that, and had it insured at a cost of over £2k !!!!

His latest car is an '05' Porsche Cayenne 3.2 V6 and his insurance is only £800...... all the same details as the Volvo with the same company.

How does that make any sense whatsoever Shocked Censored

Its algorithms.... computer says. I recently bought a Honda Africa Twin. Could have bought the new model but the deciding factor was insurance. For the CRF1000 there was numerous options around the £205 to £250 price point, for the newer CRF1100 there was one offering at £470 with the rest circa £550 to £650

My Volvo is £340 with business use. Our nearly 80k X545E is £670, again with business use

Just been 'refused' insurance cover for my 1989 Discovery, according to the insurer they cannot quote due to the huge increase of thefts of these expensive (mine isn't) cars, particularly in London (I live in Warwickshire).

This is with Hastings. They have refunded me just over £200 based on pro-rata cost of insuring my 'classic' Mercedes.

Five minutes on confused search website and I have same cover for less than the Merc' was costing me, the top three were all within about £25 of each other Rolling Eyes

Computer-says-no at work with Hastings I think, it's a funny old world......

Home insurance renewal this time......

This years premium has gone up by 18.5%, usual no claims, changes, etc.

Go online searches and with the same company I can go up one level of cover, lower excess and accidental cover included for less than last years premium. Go figure..... Rolling Eyes

Isn't it the classic "we've already got you so we'll fleece you" insurance company tactics? Swapping every year is a faff, but if that's what the insurance companies want then so be it.

It's only really a faff if you have to phone up to stop auto-renew and I'm seeing more companies giving that opt out option on the website not "write to us at this address or ring us if you don't want to auto-renew".

Without that palaver it is, literally, ten minutes online with a comparison site, if you've done it once before its got all your details.

Auto renew is a PITA. Rolling Eyes meant to be for our benefit, but in reality it’s for the insurance companies.

I’ve stopped it several times this year, after the insurance companies dropped their premiums, which to my mind they should have done to start with.

Anyway, a typical example recently meant me stopping the auto renew of my motorcycle insurance, initially they wanted £140.

They amended it after I told them to stop the auto renew & matched a comparison site lower quote for their own insurance of £110.

I didnt take it, I went via a cash back site, where I got the same price of £110, but also got £20 cash back. 😂

I just get fed up by the time I’ve done 3 cars, a motorcycle, 3 house/contents, pet insurance, gadget insurance. It’s never ending.
