RRS steering wheel on disco 4

Hi all I’m new to the forum and discovery ownership. I’ve recently bought a 2012 discovery GS due to my growing family and I can’t believe I never got one sooner! Since mine is the gs model and completely poverty spec I’d like to retrofit cruise control. I’ve acquired a Range Rover sport steering wheel (2010 I think) and I’d like to fit the whole thing (not just the switch packs) to my disco. Everything looks exactly the same from what I can see, also has flappy paddles like mine, but I’m just hoping someone here can put my mind at rest before I strip mine down for a test fit. If it does fit does anyone know someone around the Stockport/Cheshire area who can activate the cruise function for me? Cheers Tom!

Switch packs may not be compatible...

Late switches wont work on an early car, or something along those lines

I’m off to a good start then Laughing I was aware that the switch packs might not be compatible between early and later models but I was hoping I’d avoid this by having the complete steering wheel and both switch packs. I had a choice of 2 steering wheels 1 with paddles and one with without so obviously chose the one with paddles. Only thing I can do is try and find out, just need to find someone local with the software to activate it.

You may be OK as I recall reading that on the 10 to 11 MY, if one switch pack failed, you could replace like for like or if stock had run dry, you could fit a newer 12MY on pack but both had to replaced together.

Fingers crossed it all goes well! I’ll report back when I get round to fitting it. What other diagnostics are out there to access the ccf other than IID?

Just to confirm the Range Rover sport steering wheel fits and all switch pack buttons work, just need to get on the road and test the cruise to see if I get lucky and don’t have to activate on the ccf like geoffsnook has mentioned. Also the added bonus of it being perforated leather which is nicer than the smoother leather on the disco steering wheel (not sure if all discos are smooth?).
