Cross drilled discs rotation
Hi there, I have had some vented and cross drilled brake discs fitted. Stopping power is excellent BUT which direction should they be fitted in. Does the slot on the disc face the front or the rear
Front off side.
Rear off side
Originally both were in the direction of the rears, now due to a warranty issue of brake wobble I have had the fronts replaced, they have now been installed with the slot to the rear after discussion with my indi. Question, should I have the rears swapped over as well.
The Subaru in this picture has them set like my rear discs Discovery 4 3.0 HSE 2010 year. I like it a lot. Now with winch 😂

My AP Racing discs are mounted this way.
Outer edge reaching the brake pad first.
A very simple way to understand the drawing.
Hope that helps.

I always thought they were mounted so that the grooves through the dust outwards so the opposite of the AP diagram.012MY RRS 5.0 Supercharged Autobiography (Current)

Agreed, I think everyone who fits brakes should watch/read this... so simple yet so important.... with Porsche I would think the the big “L” & “R” on the discs would help but obviously not I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

I’ve just read an article that states you can have the groove leaning forward or backward so shouldn’t be used as the deciding factor of which side the disc is fitted. Any direction cooling vanes are the deciding g factor and should lean rearwards. If the vanes are straight then the direction of the groove is personal choice.

Thats how I fitted mine. Dust gets drawn away from the hub, and towards the outside of the disc, where it can be dispersed
I read that fitting them facing forward promoted the chances of brake squeal...My D3 Build Thread
