Do you own a D4 or D3?
Because this thread is in the D4 section but the pics above are on the D3...
Anyway,
Can you confirm that you can switch between CarPlay or oem display functions? Such as the 4x4 Info etc?

Hi Vin,
If you are talking to me... I am a D4 2014 commercial spec. (It’s more like an HSE lux now with everything I’ve added!)
My unit is the ‘unique audio’ LR4/RRS. It is not the one offered in Australia, these guys are based in the U.K.
When you switch on it will display the usual Land Rover Home Screen. To see CarPlay you have to press ‘Nav’ then it’s all touchscreen CarPlay. To switch out of CarPlay and back into the LR UI just press any key (audio/video/nav) and you can navigate the LR options. Nothing is lost from the original spec other than the Nav itself.
I have chosen not to connect my phone via Bluetooth to the car so the phone is also lost. This isn’t necessary especially if you are going to plug in.
The 4x4i function works as it did and you can add it to the shortcuts on the home screen so that it’s easily selectable rather than going through ‘other options’ as mine was.

Okay, so you have another product on the D4, I had a look on their website but seems that for my D3 the only CarPlay kit is the Australian one... otherwise I should go for an Android unit, but I want to keep the oem Land Rover infos on the screen...

I have CarPlay as standard on my new work sprinter
The only thing I don’t like about it that it frequently seems to drop out and won’t re connect until the vans been shut down for a few mins,
Don’t know if it’s a sprinter problem or not so I have to keep my old sat again running as a backup, shame really

Sounds like it is a Sprinter issue. We have it on all our cars and it works faultlessly, which it didn't do in my D4. It's now one of my three must haves on any car I buy. New Defender L663 110 SE (known as Noddy!)

It got to go back in soon due to the livery company just slicing round the edges after wrapping it and cutting through the door seals
I’ll ask them to try and remedy the CarPlay issue, I agree it’s a very useful tool

Does the unique one still allow you to control stuff from the steering wheel? Looks a good system and since getting the new iPhone my Bluetooth connection with the car is being very temperamental not always finding the phone and just stopping playing music 2015 HSE Lux

Just installed this naviplus on my 2015 d4. Was a bit of a hassle to get everything installed, but what joy to have CarPlay and therefore decent satnav on the disco screen.
Wireless CarPlay & steering wheel control inputs are optional extras, but for me worth it.
Tip for those contemplating: easiest place to mount the boxes is behind the upper glove box. 2015 Discovery 4 SDV6 HSE - Montalicino Red

I’ve got Apple Car Play and I don’t like it! The only thing I use it for is Spotify very occasionally. Certainly don’t like the Nav feature. Each to their own that said.

Hi folks. Am looking at naviplus v unique audio kit.
Anyone got any pros / cons of the different types please? Spoke to unique as guys today and steering wheel works for volume only. Wondering why adding steering wheel control would be useful on the naviplus, just for forwarding tracks on Spotify etc?
Anything anyone could add much appreciated before I take the plunge

I've been looking at Unique Auto Developments unit and ask the local ICE about install and he suggested Integrated Automotive as an equally good unit for JLR platform.
Has anyone on here got experience of the Integrated Automotive unit? Cheers

Hi Chris. I ended up ordering Isudar kit. For £250 and with 99% of the functionality I thought it was worth a go. So it’s on its way. Going for self fit. Will let you know how I get on
