Only thing I miss is the headphone jack. On a long flight/train ride you can keep the phone charging and pumpin out the bangin toonz via the head phones. But I’m sure I’ll live with it.

Got a set of BT beats. It’s just that the old headphones in the jack meant on a 13 hr flight meant the phone could be fully charged at the end, ready to figure how to get to the hotel. Plus cheap headphones weren’t a worry if they went AWOL, expensive BT headphones are.

The morning show is ok (I liked it very much) and so is humankind. No idea on the newer content, haven’t been back.

A lack of 3.5mm audio jack is one thing that I wasn't sure about when I went from the (old) SE to an XR last autumn - no problem in the car, it just plugs into a USB connector for audio and power, but in the Disco I had separate audio and power cables for it. I just found a Y-split cable on eBay which breaks the Lightning connector out into a 3.5mm socket for audio and another Lightning connector for power - cost less than a fiver and works absolutely fine.

Didn’t know such a splitter existed. Will have a search for one.

This is the one I bought. £3.59 delivered - nothing fancy, doesn't do data syncing, just simple power and audio, but works fine for me. The seller I used doesn't seem to have them listed at the moment, though.

Will be good for in my car as don’t have fancy CarPlay etc. Screen always lit up for Google Maps, bangin toonz through the aux input while it’s all being powered through the ciggie socket. Jobs a good ‘un.

He that knows about such things as “bangin toons” in our house says new ear phones supplied have lightning plug.........I never looked just left them in the box in drawer. I was expecting to carry on using one of one of three other sets I have acquired. Yet another Apple product to have to buy in a short time with splitter / adapter for charging and who thinks a 1m lightning cable is really long enough, the way to go. Losing the headphone socket was key to making them more water resistant. Or so I was told by someone who knows about such things.2006 D3 HSE (Original & still the best)-GONE

how are people getting on with the new se? Im needing to upgrade and always had android but this falls into the price and size category im after.
Thoughts please and can you use things like google maps and gmail? I always back up to google so hopefully that would still be possible?? Today is the oldest you've been and the youngest you'll ever be again.

My daughter has one - very impressed for the money. You can get an app for Gmail & Google maps. I back up using Icloud which obviously works really well. Don’t see why you shouldn’t back up to Google though, someone else will hopefully confirm....
I upgraded from the old SE (“classic”?) and have found the improved camera to be worth the change, the increased screen size is welcome for reading text. I still haven’t got used to the bulk & weight, though. Glad to have saved money in not getting an 11.Time flies like an arrow; fruit flies like a banana
Got one for my wife and she is very happy with it. Her iPhone 5 needed replacing and she is an apple fan so this was a good option at a good price. Especially with interest free credit.
