Neither Facebook nor the company is doing anything illegal.
Agreed - but in my opinion these advertisements are entirely inappropriate, and the public should complain both to Facebook & the legal firm in question.
Medical negligence claims have soared since the introduction of no-win-no-fee deals, and as a retired solicitor I would like to see things tightened up. A ban on no-win-no-fee cases and on lawyers advertising would be a good starting point.
A couple of years ago it was reported that in 61% of successful cases, the legal costs were higher than the damages paid out.

There was a report in one of the 'Saturday comment' type columns in the papers and it was something like £83bn on claims out of NHS budgets. Obviously there are some 'genuine' cases but the waves of cons is staggering yet many are 'settled' for £15-30k without blinking as they cannot afford to challenge many.
I'll try and dig the report out and link it, worth a read and disheartening at same time

I have always through that this business could be killed off quite quickly, along with all the "accident" claims if, when they reach court the magistrate/judge just threw out all the stupid/bogus claims and told the firms they would have to cover the court costs.
Its my opinion that this type of activity only keeps going because the courts keep awarding the cases.

Just listen to the “ambulance chasers” adverts on commercial radio. Have you been in an accident, mis-sold an investment etc.
The NHS negligence claims is a huge market:

There must be enough successful cases to make it worthwhile. And the only way to know if a claim is bogus is to test the evidence.
It would be useful, though, to have a table which showed, by lawyer (not firm as they can move around) the number of negligence claims filed and the number won.

I am continually being phoned up by companies wanting to represent me in regards to the car accident that I was 'involved in recently'. When I ask them when and where that accident was, they change tack and then ask if it was perhaps a trip or fall, or perhaps an accident at work that I had
The root cause is lawyers being allowed to advertise & to undertake work on a no win no fee basis; and it is this which needs to be addressed, the cases simply shouldn't be brought.

Agreed, get rid of "no win, no fee". Or make them tell people very loudly "Even if you win, we probably will take all of the compensation and you'll still owe us some more money on top of that.".Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

This is the link I mentioned in the OP (and I won't apologise its in the Daily Mail like so many on here do despite "I'd never read that trash" comment they usually make when they post a link themselves )
A bit depressing really but 'how the world works' these days
