Another mystery cable - Behind ash tray / cigar lighter
Can anyone tell me what this cable is for? Red and black in colour; testing it shows that it's a negative wire but only has continuity when key in position 1 onwards. Can't think why you'd want an ignition activated negative..
2nd pick shows it was connected to a little plastic tab on the ashtray housing to keep it tidy.

I thought this. As if LR were tight enough to only put illuminated cigar lighters on certain specs.. actually I'm not surprised in the slightest.
I see. I tested it wrong before. Works with side lights on regardless of ignition.

It’s cus they are power outlets I guess.

As above, it's for the illumination when an illuminated socket is fitted - which is only a fag lighter.
The 12V outlet isn't illuminated.06 D3 SE / 15 LR D90 XS SW / 88 LR 90 Td5 / 68 BMW 2000 ti
