was it because you kept on coming back or because Aboriginals had an inane fascination with chucking you at 'roos ?

If it helps - I bought one about three weeks ago from Knights in Kirton Lindsey (North Lincolnshire) - used it at Tong - well pleased with it. They recommended it as the best quality CB on the market. I was taught to be cautious.

Not sure what it is - the guy there, who was very helpful, set it all up for me and when he put the SWR meter on, with my existing whip / magmount, it was too short. Now have an aerial that's about 1 1/2 metres long, with 'springy' bit at the bottom and it's pulling in clear signals from up to 10 miles away! I don't think its anything special, but whatever it is - it works. Aerial clatters a bit going through trees - but so what! Very good firm to deal with I was taught to be cautious.

Just out of interest where and how did you mount the CD ? also is the antenna mounted by clamp or Mag plate?

It's on a magmount. I have thought about fitting it with a plate to my Expo rack but haven't got round to it yet. I like the idea which Cotefarmboy used - so I might give that a try. Haven't done anything special with the aerial lead - comes in through the gap between nearside front and rear doors - just enough room for it to go through without trapping the coax. Set sits on a plywood plate inside the upper glove box - angled so that I can see it.

Richard I was taught to be cautious.

Mmmm. Looks very similar to the one AlphaBravo was using when we went to Tong. He was having range issues with it - but might have been down to lack of tuning aerial length. Will try and post a pic of mine, later.
