indeed. the ticker-tape writer pins are so worn down it just gives the ribbon a mild massage.
just getting back online now. only 300 or so apps to install. at least the new drive is an SSD so reboots take seconds rather than minutes.
given the PC has been up and running for at least 6 years now and has only been powered down for about 3 weeks in all that time, I should perhaps have seen this coming.
