Maybe too simple, but... do not drain your battery, when you forget to unplug...

I have the Central passenger Socket live, but on a second battery..(Split charge that is)

The central mounted passenger Socket is very easy to access, easyer that the ones beneath the ashtray regarding work... so is very easy to wire directly from (one of) the battery(s), if you do not like to fiddle around to much in the glovebox area.. although you have to pull a wire through the “firewall” anyway
 Best regards
Harold
