Tow bar electrics shorting

Hi everyone hope someone can help
I’ve a disco 3 and when connecting the tow bar electrics and the lights and hazards are on the lights go dim and flash with the hazards, if I push the trailer fitting over to the right a tiny bit it stops and goes how it should,
I’ve tried a new plug still the same flashing, I’ve traced the wires back to the main wiring loom inside the boot and with a tester it’s still doing it. Am I testing it wrong I’ve cleaning the earth and connectors as thought it was a bad earth, is there a relay down , is there any relays to the electrics if so where, I’ve checked all the fuses and they are good.
I’m completely stumped.
Thank you all
Karl

Hiya

Welcome to the asylum Whistle

Is the loom new or an original one please , sounds like a wire is breaking down inside the loom , seeing you’ve fitted a new electrical socket and checked the internal connector

Hope that helps

Ps, if u don’t mind me adding , plse pop over to the introduction section as also filling in ur profile which includes what Land Rover u have Thumbs Up

It’s the original loom I’ve also tried a separate earth from the socket and all connectors are good just wired that if I move the caravan lead to one side it stops it doing it 🤔🤔🤔

well it's either the socket on the car. or the plug on the caravan. Check those both out.

Check the wiring loom behind the bumper it can get crushed by the harmonic damper weights
