New to LR family

I wanted to say hello from Alaska. We have had our LR3 (should be disco3!) for 4 months now. It's our first LR and we just love it! Silver/black SE and so far it has been wonderful. We've alot of snow this winter and the LR is great in the deep stuff. Performance is super. Great site, and how can I get a DISCO3 UK sticker Very Happy

Alaska! fantastic. I always wanted to come to Alaska. Got any photos of serious snow?

I suppose yours is a V8, but how do you stop it freezing up overnight? Our diesels have a Fuel Burning Heater that does not work properly!

We keep the V8 LR3 in a heated garage, but I would have love to been able to buy a TDV6. No luck! I work on the North Slope of Alaska for BP Exploration, and I could have used a FBH in my work truck. Air temp -35c

So how does the LR3 'really' handle in the snow and ice ? I guess if you've chosen one then your confident that its amongst the best out there.

Also makes it a sure bet fro driving around in our snow dustings too Wink

We are running the stock Goodyears, and I've been in 18-20in of new snow last weekend on a ski trip, handled great. On the ice, which all of our snow turns in to, it performs OK. It's heavy so stopping can be a trick. The ABS system does the job well. This 4x4 would be even that much better with some studed snow tires for the winter. We also have a Audi A4Q with winter studs, and it is so much fun when the roads are covered in about 10in of snow! The 95 bmw M3 is a garage queen. Very Happy

excellent... I guess the physics of stopping is harder with a 2.7 tonne vehicle !

So your Goodyears are the M&S rated ones we get in the UK ?

Yes they are the same. I can't wait until summer. The snow is fun, but we have alot of 4X4 trails to some great out of the way fishing spots. I hope the tires perform well off road
