Turbo Pipe O Ring Leaking?
Afternoon All,
So my D4 is currently in the dealers for restricted performance (P1247), they took it for an extended road test on Monday and if faulted, which is obviously a good thing.
They said that there is a O ring leaking on the turbo intake.
Does anyone know which O ring they mean and whether this is a common issue?
I asked how they knew it was the O ring leaking and the service person, who I suspect knows less than they're letting on) said they could see the O ring had 'come out a bit'.
When researching the original code I suspected the intake manifold as it seems the mose common issue for this fault.

Thought I would update this..
Firstly I had a call today saying that warranty was only covering 75% of the repair, and they had explained it all to my wife yesterday, I though it was odd my wife hadn't mentioned it..
So called back, alas they must have been looking at the wrong job..
So they replaced the 'Damaged O ring' and the fault remains.. so now they're looking at a possible split pipe.. again, I don't think this is the case, I checked all the accessible pipes when the fault first occurred. I still suspect inlet manifold.
In the meantime, I'll enjoy clocking up the millage & wearing the tyres in the DS HSE instead of my D4.. Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

Hi Desb,
Sorry I missed your reply at the time. I just came back across it..
So the final outcome was......
Your guessed it! the LH Intake manifold split.. then it broke down another 2 times as they hadn't replaced the HP Fuel pipes and the out fuel everywhere..
That was exactly 1 year ago today.. the interesting thing is the other side split last week.. so it's back with the dealership having it 'confirmed' before I beg LRCS & the dealer for goodwill..Disco4 MY16 SDV6 Landmark Black

Thanks, mine was resolved eventually by LR sending a technician equipped with a laptop and monitoring equipment which was hooked up whilst towing our caravan. The issue was the intake pipe blowing off the throttle body. It was suspected that an over boost was causing the issue but the data was normal. They replaced the mounting bracket with a modified (stronger) bracket and all is fine.

I’ve been diagnosing my intake coming off my throttle body as well. I eventually spotted that the metal clip, while looking fully seat wasn’t. With some leverage and force, plus a flat blade screwdriver, I was able to get it to seat correctly. Problem solved.

That noise is most likely the exhaust crossover pipe at the rear of the engine.

It can have a slight rasping note to it, but when mine went it sounded just as you describe.

Hi,
Need help with this situation, I've just replaced the manifold covers, then this happens just a few hundred miles after.

After this I actually found the reason it kept coming loose was the "intake duct" was worn and cracked where the metal clip goes. I since bought a new one and all issues solved - no more oil leak or air leak.
