Differences between six and eight speed D4

As above, is the later D4 a significant improvement on the six speed box one?
Looks like a few extra BHP , two gears and a knob?

On diesel: yes, the 8 speed is better. Thumbs Up
On petrol: it’s actually a step back since, by default, it comes with a one-speed transfer box (high gears only). Might matter or might not depending on your use case. Some have been surprised by this. Whistle

It’s more economical (better mileage) and shifts smoother than the 6 speed. While you didn’t ask, starting MY2012 along with the 8 speed gearbox the vehicles also had upgraded entertainment system - at least HSEs - search for ICE Gen 2.1.

Less likelihood of torque converter clutch judder and surge.
In my opinion the 8 speed is a better box all round.

...anyway.

I'm in overlap mode so have the 6 & 8 speed. I'm reminded that they're a world apart. Don't go for the 6 speed unless you're absolutely forced to. There's nothing wrong with it at all - it's completely fit for purpose (as my 2006 (with transfer box) demonstrates) but the 8 speed is a lot better.

And I'm bloody glad you did! I'm still not sure I'd have missed it when it came to looking at cars, but it certainly made searching for vehicles a much more prolonged process!

Yes - finally, adaptive cruise and HD pack. 37K miles. Fancy white colour and sort of brown seats. Pick it up tomorrow. I'm also going to put an ad here for my V8 in the hope that it could go to someone on here, because it's awesome and I'm still torn about the switch.
