Power Steering Pump Pulley Play

Hi,

My D3 died yesterday with a flat battery, due to what turned out to be a shredded air con clutch pulley. No noticeable noise until jump starting it, so it must have gone from ok(ish) to bad very quickly.

I've managed to remove the remnants of the air con clutch pulley, the air con compressor turns freely so thankfully not seized, so ready to order some parts and repair.

I've check for play in all the over pulleys, as I have found in the past on other vehicles that when one goes badly it can seem to take others with it.

Both the aux belt tensioners are shot, and the fan idler has some play, so will change all of those.

Remainder seem fine, with the exception of the power steering pump pulley, I cant feel any bearing issues and there is no play when wiggling side to side, however there is a small (<1mm) play in and out along the shaft. Does anyone know if this play on the shaft itself is normal or should I be ordering a new pump as well?

I'm hoping not as its already turned into a large enough job for a cold dark evening.

Thanks in advance.
