In fairness to the "snowflakes", it's the BBC that has unilaterally decided to censor the lyrics because they think young people might be offended.

I'm not sure it's revisionism, Moo. The BBC has a long history of banning/censoring "offensive" songs. It's not just the BBC either, many songs have "radio edits" that omit / alter certain words so that they can be played on as many radio stations as possible (and thus help the song's ratings, of course).
And that's before you get to all the songs that have chunks cut out to make them fit the c.3 minute format for radio play.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk

It's not even December and the snowflakes are already out.
....... and just the day before, BBC Radio 4 Today programme changed Fishermen to Fisher People.
So no doubt on the back of that we can expect that famous lozenge to be renamed ....
.... "Fisher People's Gender Neutral Friends".
That'll certainly be a hard one to swallow. ...... always on the road less travelled 🚧
