Engine oil additive

Been hearing about Liqui Moly "Cera Tec" for a while now, decided to try myself. With a last oil change, added full bottle of Cera Tec (needs a bit more than 1 bottle for 2.7d). Fuel consupmtion is down only about 1%, but in a cold morning engine is sooo quite, feels like its been started warm not cold.

Anybody got similar experience with oil additives?

How to divide opinion on a motoring website.
Some swear by additives, some say snake oil.

I did try some years ago from a guy on this site, so long ago can’t remember it’s name, never really noticed any difference and just used to change oil & filter every 6 months after that.

^Ah yes, I’d forgotten about that additive. He was a nice chap, but I also couldn’t notice any difference. I believe that my old D3 is still going strong though, so who knows. Smile

He was from the Netherlands ISTR as was the additive, I used it once but then he couldn’t get more supplies, so I never bothered after that - yes, decent guy to buy from.

I still use TSL oil in my own engine, every oil change, and buy it from the Netherlands. Just bought another ltr, should last me a while.
And one of my regular customer also has it added every time it has an oil change.

The price oil is it shouldn’t need any addative!
 It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Wonder how people measure 1 percent difference in their cars mpg?
The mpg figures change much more than that just having the fbh on.

I have used BG products in my own cars for the past 12 months, something I'll be offering come the new year

Not the cheapest of additives, but they actually do work

Fuel economy on our courtesy car rose from 52mpg to 55.something

Wife's Disco Sport also seen an increase, as did the apprentices Fabia vRS

I also run it in my TDV8, but no before figures to compare with

And, the additives package can also be offered with a warranty. How good that warranty is remains to be seen, but on the face of it, it sounds decent enough

Tried having a look for this "TSL" additive. Anyone know a source ?

I realize this is a diesel thread but I’ve used BG 44K roughly every 20k km on my petrol vehicles. It does seem to make a difference in fuel consumption. There is a diesel version, too, but I have no experience with it.
