Sounds like possibly an earth strap has let go. Get a good jump lead and connect one end to the engine and the other to the battery negative terminal.
Make sure you have strong connections and see if it will turn over.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Check fuse to starter motor, check for correct battery should be silver calcium and check battery negative.
Sometimes the new batteryes must be charged but you say nothing witch leads to thinking of poorly connected ground cable or possible short in starter motor but that is unlikely.

PROFSR G test method.
Jumping from another vehicle doesn't show an earth fault.L633 Defender

If you don't connect engine and battery negative, car electrics won't necessarily work even jumping from another vehicle..

I didn't suggest jumping from another vehicle, if there is a broken earth strap he can just bridge it with a single jump lead to confirm.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Ok thanks, so it seems that its a bad earth somewhere as wiring engine to battery negative means it will turn over very weekly by itself.
Any ways to find a bad earth? Theres the obvious wire from the battery to the passenger wing?

It's likely the strap on the driver side which bolts to the engine, then chassis, then body. If you get a strong earth as I suggested above it will confirm the earth strap failure, but it must be STRONG!yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

If the earth strap( s ) are naff, battery won't be in a good state of charge ... giving you the slow turning over..
