Light is ok, it also shows "R" on the 4x4 screen when selected.
A quick scan with my IID is reporting a fault code (see below), is this a side effect of the switch to RR Mode or something else?

So I took a punt and purchased a cheap 2nd hand touchscreen from eBay. I also went for a slightly different reference number YIE000243PVJ, which I believe is from a later model D3.
From my limited testing so far, it worked fine as a D3 unit (good start), let the car go to sleep and then I unplugged the little connector for the front buttons (thank you Pete for that tip), to trick it into RR mode without cutting the required wire. Then selected reverse and the screen shifted to the reverse camera view no problems!
I then let it go to sleep again and swapped the original unit back in and tested again, no reverse camera display.
YIE500070PVJ - Didn't work
YIE000243PVJ - Does work (so far) 54 D3 TDV6 AUTO HSE - Oct13 > Present
