BLINDED BY WATER ON WINDSCREEN
Hi all,
Whenever I hit any decent sized puddle water seems to be sent forward and up over the bonnet. If your not expecting it it can be downright dangerous on the narrow country lanes round here. We have eight vehicles in the family from a Citroen C1 to a LWB Transit but this problem only occurs on the Disco 4-which is disappointing and surprising as given it's heritage. Is there a fix or am I stuck with this issue.
Leave your wipers in auto (If you have them) Another thing is that i fitted a bonnet guard and that worked but the down side was that I could not spray the window with the washers when doing over 20mph as it went everywhere due to the spoiler altering the aerodynamics over the windscreen
The happiest of people don't necessarily have the best of everything;
They just make the best of everything they have.

Have you still got your 'spats' fitted?
These are the small 'spoiler' type fittings at the bottom corner of your front bumper and are designed to stop excess water being thrown up from the wheels to the windscreen.I was a normal heterosexual chap, but in these new woke awakenings I now identify as a Wardrobe.

Do any of the other vehicles have an approach angle of 32.2° and wheel articulation that will allow them to drive through a boulder field? Because you cannot have these capabilities without there being nice, big gaps for water to fly out from when you enter standing water too fast.I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

Very simple and cheap fix.............slow dow when you see standing water, after all you never know what’s underneath, cast iron covers weigh in very well for scrappies It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

"enter standing water too fast" - not what I am talking about bud - just regular driving on crap UK country roads and hitting puddles at the side of the road.

Wondered when the bun fight would start, it’s not the first time for this question. And not the first bun fight.
Interestingly tyre choice was a factor when I was driving these beasties. It would do it on standard Pirelli Scorps but not MTRs, and I don’t remember it happening on Pirelli ATRs.

Yes these are on but don't help. I have had two D2s before and although they did it a bit they were nowhere near as bad. I haven't got mudguards fitted, don't know if they would help?

Mudguards didn’t make any difference for me.

Despite the less than helpful sarcastic responses it is an issue on the disco and has been discussed previously dosent need much depth to cause it either as you say any descent size puddle does it. but im used to it and hover over the wiper stalk for down click quick sweep if i see the hazard in time. been caught out a few times tho MY05 SE D3 Manual my first LR what a car

An annoying trait that all Discoveries and RR Sport have suffered from, not sure re 5, but never found a solution.
Agree much more pronounced than many other models out there, could go through a puddle in wifes swift no problem but Discovery same puddle would completley swamp and block windscreen view.
Did think trying to fit a bigger flap at front of wheel, where spats are, like a converted lorry anti spray one, but never got round to it. Also had the thought the spray seems to emerge from side of wheel arch so trying to surpress it at the front might actually make it worse.
Another thought I had but never followed up, was to film it in slow motion going through puddle to see where water is actually flowing before trying to find a solution, hope that helps in some way D4 Landmark MY16 Santorini Black THE LAST
