I looked for a combined PMR & CB as this would be ideal but no luck. Looks like I can get the Midland 98 Plus with a mag mount for £59.95 brand new off e-bay, so they are not expensive.

PMR and CB use different frequencies, hence different units.
PMR is better than CB in convoy/close quarter operations - crystal clear reception with an Entel from JMC
CB is better over the miles, but reception can be problematic....

You will often find the Alan/Midland handhelds on EBlag - I watched a number of auctions for them before buying one brand new with all the accessories for £40 so worth the wait

so does anyone know of a mobile PMR Unit. (not a handheld) or
is there a hand held (Entel ?) that has a car kit (like a mibile phone setup
aerial on the roof , holder/charger for the dash ? )
I realise they are on different frequencies but why can't they make a dual unit, essentially two boxes in one. I think it would be a winning product.
There are theoretically a number of such units but you would need a proper (amateur radio) licence to use one. Even then, they do not legally cover CB & PMR.
PMR446 (License free) radio is, by legal definition, limited to a hand portable device with a non-removable antenna and a power output of no more than 500mW (0.5watts).
CB radio is also legislated to 40 specific uk channels and 4w output. I'm not sure about the current license requirement as I don't waste my business time with CB.
Simple fact is, to stay within the law, you can have a PMR446 walkie talkie and / or a CB radio. There is no such thing as a PMR446/CB all-in-one unit and there would be little or no market for such.The older I get, the more I realise that people confuse wrinkles for wisdom

My CB rig is fitted inside my centre console storage box, power is obtained by drilling a hole through from the 12v socket just behind and tapping it in there. Aerial cable runs under carpets etc and into the bottom of the console so when the lid is shut it is invisible from outside the car and I don't have to faff about taking it in and out.
Aerial cable then runs out by the upper tailgate (under the rubber seal) and aerial clamps to roof rails 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Bought a new Midland 98 Plus ESP with a new mag mount aerial (£65). Wired it up to cigarette plug and gave it a go, picked up lot's of strange conversations .
Next time we have an off road event could someone SWR it for me.
