D3 Manual Gearbox removed, Air compressor not working.
Hi Forum experts. I have my manual gearbox out on my D3. The car is on the vehicle lift. The engine still runs but the air compressor will not kick in. When I lower the car the suspension is on lowest setting and I cannot get it off the ramps. Does disconnecting all the gearbox electrical connectors stop the compressor?. If so is there a method I can use to get the compressor working to put some air in the suspension system.

If you program the remote as Pete has said it would work with just the battery as long as the hazard warning lights are on it will go up with no engine needed.
just a trick though it will go up so far, then stop, if it refuses to go up more lower it for a second and then go back to the up command and it will keep going all the way to offroad heightMust stop buying shiny toys....

Thx for the replies, I did have the door closed. I forgot about the key fob programming, I will give it a go tomorrow, thats if the snow does not stop me. I am waiting for a modified cross over pipe. Thought I would do the clutch at the same time.

Pull the 60a fuse, bypass with a peice of 2.5 mm cable, put the fuse back in and be ready to remove it. I did it in short bursts so the cable didn't get too hot. The cable is only about 3" long and TBH there wasn't any thermal damage to the insulation, which I did expect.Discovery 4 GS 2009 Auto Stornoway Grey

It should start. Mine was kicking even thought gearbox was not responding, it was practically stout off electrically. Did you assembled back big connection plug below battery, not behind right below?

I am stuck for a few days. Access to my garage is blocked. Where did the snow come from I had thought I could get access through my IID tool. But with so many errors shown by the missing gearbox the tool cannot clear the faults shown. Relay option looks best. Thx for all suggestions.

Just a continuation of my clutch renewal at 70000 miles. Thought I would save £300 by not renewing the crankshaft dual mass damper. It looked ok when I checked it, so just fitted a new clutch plate only. 12000miles later and a grumbling knocking noise from the clutch area. Gbox off again, mass damper really loose. Moral of this story is renew mass damper when you renew the clutch. While I am in this area access to crankshaft position sensor is good so I am renewing it. Is there a specified air gap between it and the trigger ring ?

Well I think replacing the DM fly while your there, appears to be a good idea.
I'm not so sure on the crank sensor . Read up before you mess with it. Else you will be having it out again. Maybe even start the car with the gearbox out to check it works ?

Thx Pete. I am going to replace the sensor as it is now 13yrs old. Cannot see how it is changed from the outside, even if you take the Turbo off. Defo going to run it before I put the Gbox back on.
