Gap IID or Autel
I am nearly ready to put some savings down on a new diagnostic tool as my Faultmate has become dated.
My choices for the budget are Gap IIDBT or Autel MK808 and not having experience with either and that they both seem to offer very similar choices would like to get members opinions on which would be better.
Cheers

IID purely for the reason there is a massive following which means any issues you may have will already have been addressed, plus the knowledge base is huge.

Thanks llynalldiscovery,
Unfortunately the post got shifted to the IIDTool Help forum which has reduced its exposure markedly, as it was not specific IID post but for members thoughts on different tools I thought that the general forum would give me a better chance of obtaining members experience.
Cheers

Sorry to revive an old thread like this, but I am at a similar quandary, the IID tool is an amazing tool from what i am told, but for that money you can buy a very good diagnostic tool that will work with any car. Where are the IID will only work with one.
I asked my Local Indy LR guy and he recommended Autel MK808 as well.

Autel AP200 used by quite a few
It can’t change Ccf settings (if you want to modify your car)
It can calibrate suspension and program keys, and it’s amazing value with those features
So it depends on your bank balance and what you want to do

I had been looking into the AP200 myself but it looks like Autel have discontinued it and brought out new versions. Has anyone tried the newer variants?
AP200M for instance?

I've also read in another thread on here which I can't find at the moment that the autel now has a monthly subscription service to use it.

Must admit also found that confusing regarding the difference , however just found this chart
So if I’m reading it correctly you don’t have to pay if u just select 1 x vehicle , personally I got the white one
Think the H is the red one and M the white one
Hope I’ve got that right

It looks like the new version only has 6 functions, were the old one had 19, if i am reading that right. Maybe Autel realised there product was to good for £50

I think it’s the red one ( H ) that just has the 6 x functions and the white one ( M ) x19
Hopefully other members will come along to confirm that
See the out of stock at the moment of the white one
Edit , just looked on the Autel.com web site and placed picture below , did just email the Autel .co.uk and got the following reply
“ I am on Holiday from 28th January to 8th February in 2022 for the Chinese Spring Festival “

It looks like the original White AP200 could do loads of stuff, like program keys, injectors, air suspention etc. Non of that is mentioned in any of the new verisons C, H or M
I have seen a AP200M on eBay for £70 so might give it a punt, unless anyone else knows?

I'm not familiar with Autel but what I can say that GAP is a dedicated LR diagnostic tool. I can also say in my own experience in responding to members diagnostic issues, there is no small number of them on here who have sought help using generic tools. Only later to find they needed a GAP tool in the end to find the problem!
The other important factor here is the "back up" service from GAP. Any member who has had to seek GAP assistance will tell you there is simply no comparison.
In my view it's like most things in life, you get what you pay for. So it's GAP all the way for me, no question. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Sadly the original white version has been discontinued.
The 200H, C and M models are all red and require an annual subscription, after the first year.
The 200M is the most comparable to the original but does not do ABS bleeding, (I think that this may be available for an extra subscription).

I am in no way doubting the power of the GAP tool. I have heard it is a trulley excellent peice of kit, but for over £500 for a single car it should be. The Autel tool can work with any car and from what i have seen can do 90% of the GAP tool can.
I am happy to be proven wrong on this, but as someone who has a family with various cars it would alot easier to justify if it can work with any car.
Also the original Autel i was looking at was the MK808 which is similar money to the GAP, but then i have just been put onto this AP200 which at £70 is frankly crazy value for money, even if you have to pay to add extra cars.

I would say the white Autel can do 70% of what the GAP can (I have both)
The Autel does do it slower.
