[For Sale] 2005 Discovery 3 V8 HSE

Discovery 2005 HSE V8

I’ve owned this vehicle since Oct 2016 and from 104k miles. Its currently on circa 126750k but will rise with use. It’s a fourth vehicle so hence the relative low mileage and the V8 route. The good bits. Mechanical A1 and without fault. Drive greats, gearbox is smooth and the air conditioning works

I had the selling dealer carry out the gearbox flush as part of the deal and split the costs. I’ve replaced / renewed the following during ownership.

All serpentine belts, tensioners , pulleys @ 105k
Replacement sunroof tube / A pillar fix / front scuttle fix
Rear parking and front parking sensors
Rear brake lines / rear brake pipe to underside of front passenger side / brake hoses all round
Spark plugs @ 105k
PCV value @ 105k
Tayna battery
Transfer box, diffs oils @ 105k
Refurbished alloys
New rear locks / replacement cable for front passenger lock
New track road end / new drop links
Replaced all 4x disc and pads back to genuine @ 109.5k
Timken front hubs both sides @ 112.7k
Replaced water and oil sensors
Genuine rear handbrake shoes @ 115.5k
4x Duratrac tyres @ 116km
New genuine LR condenser and (regas and A/C service at LR – Aug 2018)
New rear sway bars
New genuine RRS front arms / new rear OS upper arm @ 125km (Mark West 4x4)
Sidesteps and cill check at 125k
Genuine wheel nuts @ 125k
GKN propshaft @ 125k
New fuel strap @ 125k (rust under an previous MOT was mainly attributed to the fuel strap)
New Dunlop front air struts @ 125k (I thought they were a bargain)
Genuine front and rear air value block @ 126k to cure a slight drop over a few days

Oils and filters changes at 5000 to 7000miles since ownership. Changed at 122.5k , 116k, 109.5k @ at purchase

Accessories added - Lamp guard / RLD front protection plate / RAI / Dog guard / Hatchbag / V8 private plate / LR rubber matts

They are probably more items that I’ve changed / replaced but the above are the key items. (The advantage of living within a mile of Advanced Factors and a stone’s throw of the LR dealer before they moved).

The good bits:
Low VED /cheap insurance
A1 mechanical
Solid chassis and sills
Smooth V8 / starts on the key / gearbox works as it should
Does not leak water via the sun roof / front scuttle / A pillar
Air conditioning and electrics all work
Doesn’t drop when parked up overnight
Parking sensors work

The not so good bits:
Both rear quarters have been painted. Both look acceptable as shown in the photos but are noticeable to a certain extent up close
Doors driver side previously painted. Match is fairly good and I didn’t spot this until I removed the car park rubbing strips.
Car park rubbing strips driver side – presentable
High level stone chip (never got around to having this done)
The odd dent here and there but overall pretty good for a 16yr old car as can be seen from the photos
If you switch off. Stay in the car with the key in the ignition, after a period of time the voice activation awakes with command not recognised. Don’t know why. Pressing the voice activation cancel button clears this (is this normal?)

MOT until 19th Oct 2021 – Last MOT at 124,661 miles with no advisories

MPG – Not bad for a V8. Extra urban about 16 to 18mpg on dash / on a run about 21 to 24mpg.

The car has been completely reliable during its time with us and rekindled our affection for LR. Reason for sale – We’ve ordered a P400 110 XS to amalgamate two of our vehicles into one, replacing the V8 and our PHEV Outlander.

Price £6200. This includes the V8 private number plate / all the accessories and depending on how quickly it sells, probably a nearly full tank of fuel. I have an GAP BT IID device which I’m happy to sell with the vehicle for an extra £200 (but not individually at that price!)

Niche vehicle and hard one to price (is it a fair price?) so I hope it stays within Disco3 group.

I've been communicating with Glen (1 powerrack) so all good V8 man. Glen has previously had a V8 D3 so knows them well. Was going to do the sale this Wednesday but may go to the weekend. (Hope you're okay Glen)

Packed a goody box to go with the V8...... oils, filters, trim clips, fittings, wipers etc Big Cry

I've been using my VW Cali since cleaning and putting both cars up for sale, and its certainly no magic carpet ride and the rattles.... Censored

Missing the V8 already.
