Bargain @ the Defender.
Our VW Cali cost us 53.4k in 2015. To replace it now we'll be looking at around > 70k . Crazy....

Seeing this massively on the West Coast of Scotland just now. 20 campers for every caravan on the roads and on the sites.
I know 3 families that have sold caravan and large tow car and gone with large camper and fully electric daily runaround. Maybe the perceived future of large tow cars is having an impact on tin tent ownership?
At least tintents stay on the site and don’t take up 6 parking bays when the owners go shopping, 🤦♂️ 🚀 s

Camper crazy. Heading out for the first time in a couple of weeks once the toilet bocks are open. Have started working on the missus to go for a tin tent, but this year looks like I’ll be staying with the nylon one.
Maybe next year once all of these temporary “staycationers” are heading back to Spain they’ll be some bargain used vans and campers on eBay
And Iguana, can you PLEASE keep sharing photos of your new one? I’m sooooooo jealous and the photos are the closest I’ll be allowed to one!2008 HSE Stornoway Grey

We brought a motorhome at the end of summer 2019. What a result, been a godsend all last year and this year, when we were looking a residual values of a MH over 10 years I would still get 60% after 10 years, we were offered a buy back of plus 5% last summer and approached on a site last weekend by the owner to buy it from us. We brought before any boom but they were before Covid attracting premiums as I had been debating to buy for about 2 years and new they were going up considerably every year.

Lots of people (not all I realise) are more welthy than they've been for years. No holidays, no meals out, no cleaners, no pubs, thousands saved on diesel, so there's plenty of people with full banks and embracing the staycation wave.

My twopence worth. A lot of people buying these Motorhomes/van conversions / caravans have not done this type of holiday before. All it will take is a wet and windy summer and the opening of travel routes to Spain/Greece etc and there will be loads for sale.
In previous years I’ve seen tents and equipment abandoned on sites when it’s poured down. Must have wasted loads of cash. People don’t seem to think things through. It’s all rose tinted glasses.
Me, I’ve caravanned for over 40 years and still love it. Mind you we’ve endured some serious weather including being in the van when the hurricane hit the south coast. You take the good with the bad and always have a plan B.Currently 2015 D4 SE Tech, Corris Grey
