Yes I think they do have a 4.2 Jaguar engine. Sounded like it.

I was in the market for a Stalwart in the mid 90's, but SWMBO wouldn't let me. One downside was the 100 gallon petrol tank!Richard

Nooooooo! Same situation (different SWMBO!) but same conclusion. Large petrol tank + tendency of exhaust to catch fire = A Bad Thing.
This was my (inadequate) compromise. It did result in an evening playing with / driving a full-size Stolly and the realisation about just how much these toys take to keep running.
Little does she know, I'm still in communication with a few people....

Had a ride on one of those in my TA days. Flat out with me standing in the turret was great fun, or I was too young and stupid to be scared.

You are not mistaken and tank recognition superpowers are sharp as ever. Scorpion is similar but bigger gun.

Happy memories of my 40th birthday. A looong time ago it seems! Got bought a tank weekend somewhere I can’t remember, in Hampshire. Had an excellent weekend driving everything from a lightweight LandRover, Haglund, Stalwart, and many others.
The highlight of the weekend was a go in the drivers seat of a Challenger tank! That was epic. They only let us drive it in a straight line, forwards up the course and back to to start. For such a big beast I remember it had a tiny foot operated gear change, like a motorbike. Brilliant fun and if you get a chance, go and do it.

i remember having to do a report many years ago of a Scimitar commander on exercise at BATUS Canada who was ragging Xcountry standing in the turret.
The tracks threw up some barb wire and off with his head 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Had the pleasure of driving one of those around the training grounds in Germany courtesy of the Blues and Royals as a 16yr old cadet... followed by a play in a Chieftain sitting the drivers seat is probably the only time being a shortarse was an advantage I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

Interesting you mention Chieftain Tank. You got me wondering if I drove a Chieftain or a Challenger? They all look the same to me! All I can tell you is it was a huge tank, 2 stroke diesel that made a real weird howling sound. Very smoky. Possibly 12 cylinders? Motorcycle gear shift. I sat in a small cockpit at the front looking through a small opening.
