Parts wise not too expensive.

Take a pic of the old oil seal. I’m sure we would be interested.

You aren’t the first to have this happen.

Thanks

Did any previous ones having this problem find any long term damage? Or all ok?

Also am I correct in thinking the water pump is under one of these wheels? If so I could have replaced last time I did this? I’m about to buy one anyway to do so I’ll buy tomorrow if so!

Presuming it’s the seal.. I can collect a genuine one tomorrow and have the job done. Order water pump and bolt online for day after tomorrow delivery and have it back together later on the day. Probably cost under £100 total.

Got a banging headache now and I never get headaches. Hopefully sleep easy. Then back at it in morning while I’ve got child care and car spare.

And will of course get pictures to learn from

I used the vector seal but people said it was crap. So I’ll be sticking to genuine for replacement.

Should take half the time now as I feel like I know what to do in terms of starter. Alt and bracket (I do need to fit a missing bolt of mount anyway.

Before you release the TB tensioner take a pic of the tensioner alignment window! The belt will have stretched since you fitted it, so you need to allow for this if you are going to reuse the old belt. The pic will help you re-tension to where it is now. Alternatively, if in any doubt just get a new belt.

Yeah you could do the water pump if you wish.

I don’t recall people having problems after the seal poped out.

Thanks

Is water pump a wise idea or is it not likely to need it? You don’t sound so specific on the water as you did the oil pump lol

It’s a good idea as you have had to go back in. Had crossed my mind.

If there's oil on the timing belt, change it, they don't like oil!

Well that’s quick work Thumbs Up

And at least no surprise.
Best get it out and dry the surfaces of oil.
