[For sale] 1968 Land Rover S2a 88” restored.

It’s time to sell my 1968 Land Rover Series 2a 88”

Fully rebuilt 2018-2019. New galvanised ‘Richards’ chassis and Robert Owen bulkhead. Many original body panels, restored as necessary. New doors. Original sign writing touched up and preserved.
Immaculate interior, with very rare and unusual Bostrom Saxon slimline seats. Fully re- upholstered, and the internal suspension works well. These were a genuine option supplied by Land Rover when the car was new.
It has a fully reconditioned and unleaded conv 2.25 petrol engine of the correct period.
New swivels and steering components and new brakes throughout. New springs and dampers. Re-wired with Autosparks loom.
The car drives like a new Series 2a.
Pretty much all documents from new, with original log books. Current V5 present. I have lots of receipts and pictures of the restoration and can talk you through the process.
I have driven about 1000 miles since the rebuild, and it’s nicely run-in now. Any inspection welcome.
This is a restoration done by me, in my garage. The only things I contracted out were the engine machining, and the welding on the front panel. It’s never going to win a concours, but it’s a really nice car, and has been reliable since I got it back on the road a year ago. It’s been garaged since completion and very clean inside and out. Since the pictures I have added mud flaps. I’ll update photos later.
I see these being advertised at £25k + and a local auction house has valued it at 25k. However I need to sell this so I’m asking a reasonable price of £22500. I will negotiate, but you really need to come and see this, and discuss.
I documented the whole rebuild here. https://www.disco4.com/forum/topic174322.html

Really nice restoration. Can’t you sell a kidney or something else you don’t need two of? Thumbs Up

How strange the London vehicles charges are as this lovely S2 has to pay both charges according to TFL but my wife’s 1991 Nissan Figaro is exempt. Go figure….

You've done a wonderful restoration job Gareth, I take my hat off to you.

Thank goodness I don't physically fit in to it, or I'd be £22k worse off. Thumbs Up

But I would fit in it……..unfortunately my skinny wallet won’t let me.

A truly superb restoration and cracking looking (proper) Land Rover.

Bow down

It’s the polar opposite of your D3. Dead simple to run and maintain and makes money whilst you have it.

Let’s face it, it’s probably the best investment at the moment. Classic car market is hot.

Hi,

have you looked at/heard of Collecting Cars auction site Question

would think it an ideal place for selling yours, I know of someone not that far away that sold his through the site and seem to remember it went well.

can look it up if something that could work.

Yes have been contacted by them. Not got any figures from them yet, but selling on consignment is an option. Had a few places come on to me.
