Disco 4 2.7 fuel temperature sensor - restricted performance
I’ve recently had the following done:
High pressure fuel pump replaced
Both EGR vale’s done.
The backyard guy who did the fuel pump (never again) hadn’t hooked the fuel pipes up properly and diesel sprayed everywhere on the test drive for the EGR valves. The proper service guys fixed it up.
On the drive home the restricted performance error came up. I drove back and the code was for the fuel temperature. It showed -41 degrees . It drives normally but shows the error. He cleared it but half an hour later it came back.
They thought there may have been fuel damage to the temp sensor when the pipes let go. They’re saying that you can’t just replace the fuel temp sensor. But I see you can order such a part so maybe they just don’t want to. Can it be replaced without having to do the whole pump? Can it be disabled?

The temp sensor is in the fuel return pipe from the injectors. Maybe a broken wire or loose connection?

Thanks. I have seen this part advertised. I can’t for the life of me see it in the engine bay though. I can see the top of the HPFP at the rear of the engine but can’t see where this part is. Does it plug in to the top of the pump or is it underneath?

Thanks a lot ds23man, that’s it. I don’t know why the mechanic said it was part of the pump. Maybe he was confusing it with the 3 litre. Anyway I unplugged it (it was a grey connector actually) and started the car. Plugged it back in and restarted and the error disappeared. Maybe it just wasn’t seated correctly or something. Anyway fingers crossed it stays away.

Hi,got the same error but on a 3,0 2011.
When I search on the part it seems it goes with a tread.
Any one out there that got a picture of location of the sendor on a 3,0?
Thanks

It's on the HP injection pump bottom front. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Ok thanks. I have changed the inlet manifold on that side so hopefully it is just disconnected by misstake.🤔
