If you look at the second picture, it seems that the belt was expanding on the right side. Also, in third picture there appear to be signs of bubbling above the break.
I can see why you would think the above, but in the second image the belt is not lying flat on the table!
It was lifting towards the camera due to the imprinted memory of the belt, and so this end was closer to the lens creating that impression.
And you're right what looks like bubbling in the last image is in fact the white horizontal lines which are printed on the belt. They have almost disappeared from rolling over the tensioner, but left the impression in the image of bubbling.
Well spotted though. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

I have seen 2 cases where the lip that is spot welded to the rear of the camshaft pulley and come off causing the belt to shred, it it possible this has started to occur and just nipped the edge of the belt ?

The next conundrum is who bears the cost of the repair in a case like this?It can when others can't,
It will when others won't,
It goes where others don't.

Christian and Vera changing the rear belt (start at 9.25):

The Bosch belt had visible defect as new. There might be defective batch of these, who knows where Bosch has sourced belts they sell.

There will be a camera down there to inspect every tooth as well as everything else. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

No conundrum, that will be me then.
It's no big issue in that regard, but if it was the front belt that had failed I would have to take a different view.
I'm sure I had the kit on the shelf when it was fitted, and it would have come from any number of suppliers. I doubt I'll get any ears from them, so I'll probably bounce it of Dayco once I'm satisfied there was no other actor at play.

I was a dedicated Bosch fan for many, many, years. That changed some years back as I found the quality / reliability varied or fluctuated such that I lost confidence in the brand. Pity, they really did make some fantastic quality components.
They still do, I just I found it inconsistent across all their output. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Just an update on this.
I contacted DAYCO last night regarding the failed drive belt and had a response from their National Technical Manager first thing this morning!
I was surprised to say the least, especially in these times where customer service seems largely to have gone in the bin, and is a distant memory for those of us old enough to recall such.
Anyway, I have provided them with a suite of images which they requested, and I await their comments.
So far though 10/10 for expression of interest at least. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ
