When I saw this was about WBAC, I wondered if astonbuilder was making extra cash by selling on the stuff he's delivering!
Now there's a thought - anyone up for a moody Merc' S class....... or a Ford transit tipper

I’ll have the S class, just change the delivery address and I’ll sign for it.

If you could ever find out when someone has a car ‘going back’ and rocked up saying “I’m here for the car” people will hand the keys over to anybody without a backwards glance

works the other way as well, guy comes to deliver a new car, how often does he ask for ID for the new owner, or "my wife's at work" so she told me to be here!!
More frightening, guy turns up to a dealership to collect a dealer transfer of a 100k car, "ive come to get "x" type of car, chassis number" - so keys are handed over without a buy or leave as to who the **** the person is!
Out the door goes the guy, sticks it on the trailer, then off it goes never to be seen of again - not bad pay day and with all the keys!!

And that’s why you take a picture of the recipient with the keys stood by the car. It’s not difficult.
The opening question “and you are?” helps too quite often

Sold my D4 To WBAC a couple of weeks ago. Got £1000 more than I paid for it 20 months ago with an extra 18,000mls on it. Deal took all of 20 mins! Very happy with the outcome!

Apparently there are even more generous companies than WBAC. A lot of new copycat companies started up along with companies that ‘tout’ your car to dealer networks to get highest bids. Motorway and Wizzle are two ‘industry recommended’ companies and they can leverage country wide variances (non-ULEZ vehicles worth less in London than rest of country for example) and they’ll collect from your home and pay immediately.
It’s a sellers market. I’ve even looked at selling my Audi and investing the cash and drawing down monthly off it to do a PCH deal on a convertible. It would fund best part of six years ‘rental’. A ‘last ditch’ ICE V8 Mustang could sit on my drive for about the next four years….

Hi,
I dont think you "win" if your still going to buy in the same market (outright sale anyway)
you get a good price to sell but the next car is up as well
buying new is not escalated but less discounts maybe and for some models longer waiting lists
(one of the reasons for the increased used prices)
If you can wait before replacing with something else may be next year will see the prices drop back ?
I will just check a crystal ball to see how long to wait

Checked Motorway (£42011), they are way lower than WBAC (£46500) but more than LRs online valuation (£39000).23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green

That's interesting.
Motorway were always higher in the past and WBAC slow to respond to the market (constantly increasing their offer). I wonder if Motorway are pricing accordingly and feel that an correction is on the way?

WBAC v Motorway
I sold my Mazda MX5 (top condition anniversary model from 2010) a few weeks ago.
Motorway's proposed starting bid price was around £1k more than WBAC's. There was, it seems, a good response from the dealers who bid for cars via Motorway, and it eventually sold for significantly more than the start price.
The overall service was very good in my view, but I have no personal experience with WBAC so can't compare the two. The major benefits for me were the lack of hassle and the confidence that a private sale would not be jeopardised by conmen or thieves!
This thread sent me scurrying to WBAC to get a quote on the Merc. The valuation means I can settle the PCP and have a decent deposit towards something else - something I hadn't anticipated/forecast to happen for another 12 months.
Trouble is, what to get? I've been holding on for the Fisker Ocean in early 2023 and when I look at the current BEVs you have the Enyaq/ID4 - which are soulless. You have the Mach-E, which is somewhat flawed for comfort and styling, or you have the Polestar2, which is brilliant until you look at their leasing prices. Need to chat to the accountant I think.
Scratching my chin a bit at the moment, but this has certainly got me thinking!I know it's not considered "kind" to say no these days, but no. Just no, ok? And if it's not ok, still no.

I was surprised by WBAC, in my experience I’ve had better from my dealer.
I’d only trade mine in for a 90HT but as you know we can’t get them.23.5MY Defender 90 X-Dynamic SE D250 MHEV Pangea Green
