Well that government website shown on the BBC article is wrong. Wife has a Nissan Juke Nismo RS and according to the website all Nissans after 2000 can use the E10. Her car has to use 98octane fuel which is difficult to find so we use 97 octane, super unleaded. So we have to use the E5 fuel for the octane rating.ex DI D2 and D3 owner now have FFRR TDV8 but thinking of coming back to a D4 Love my Disco
The website was creaking under the strain of people trying to access it earlier today so, as RRHool suggests, it looks like more people are unsure than 1 in 4.

Should be non-event unless you’re driving with cars before the 1990s or local standards are very different from European.

I’m not planning on changing anything on my S2a. I filled it with E10 on Monday and drove back from Prudhoe to Manchester with no running issues at all.
When it comes to parts deteriorating, I’ll replace as needed. The parts for a S2a are not expensive, and I suspect that the extra cost of running a 13-14 mpg vehicle on Superdooper unleaded will be excessive. I’m doing about 4000 miles per year at the most. My maths reckons that would cost about £250 per year extra. That would buy me a new fuel tank, a new fuel pump, and a new plastic float for the carb. It might even stretch to a new set of fuel lines too!
Anyhow, we’ve been running E5 for years without apparent problems.

With something like a Series, working on it is part of the game and, as you say, parts are not a problem. For something like a similar age classic, e.g. Ferrari, I bet it's more of a worry. But then they probably don't do the miles and putting expensive unleaded through it is less likely to be an issue either - certainly cheaper than a rebuild with expensive, possibly hard to find, bits.
It'll be interesting to see what effect it has on the newer "old" stuff that isn't as valuable or as easy to fix.Visiting from rrsport.co.uk
