Discovery 3 EPB wont stay on keeps releasing
I Have just replaced the rear brake back plates on my Discovery 3 2.7 2005 . The EPB wont stay on , I can hear the Actuator working and it does put the parking brake on for a second then releases again and a loud screeching sound from the rear of the Discovery . I have adjusted the brake shoes as they should be adjusted , fully tightening the shoes with the disc on then backing off 8 clicks one full rotation , also carried out the bedding in procedure by driving and applying the hand brake which does work and stop the discovery. The Red Brake light on the dash is flashing all the time and the orange light comes on and goes off . Any help would be appreciated . . Also says brake fault. TIA

Thanks for the Reply aja4x4 . I have found out what the problem is , its the actuator motor one of the gears has broken which has a spring clutch system . Its a common problem apparently , if the cables or brake shoes seize or become very stiff . I Have ordered the repair kit. As my back brake plates / covers had rusted away all the road water and dirt had made the hand brake adjustment on the shoes very stiff , which has put extra pressure on the motor plastic gears causing one to break .
