Is there anyone on here watching this thread who is not desperately trying to justify an anvil to themselves - wish you lot could just sort out the delivery, get it to its new home and put us all out our misery 
I served my time with the local authority as a vehicle and plant mechanic and we were lucky enough to have a full time proper old school blacksmith working onsite with forge and all. He made all sorts from scratch, trailers, vehicle bodies, bespoke stuff like snowplough mounting brackets etc as well as taking care off all our welding. As part of my rotation I spent 3 months with him - I count myself lucky. Something very satisfying about shaping hot metal Corris Grey SDV6 D4 2015 HSE

I'll bet at least one anvil got left in the stables my uncle sold years ago ... just trying to think of a conversation starter that includes "you wouldn't still have an old anvil laying around ???" if I were to accidentally swing by
And only last week, had a conversation with my neighbour about converting his chiminea so we can do some casting. .

I mentioned this anvil to my mate and he did the “oooh, an anvil, I could do with one of them” when there’s no way on earth he would ever use it.
