Coolant header tank . . . |
|
Had the bonnet up today (first time in some weeks) and mine looks to be bone dry. No warning message to say coolant is running low, no signs of any leakage or the engine running hot. Assume I just need to top this up?
With my old 110, and it's 19J engine, I would simply top it up with distilled water from the tap (as I did with the green and black ones I use to drive in the eighties), but I'm sure that D3's require a greater degree of TLC than that and I'll need to get something from the Bolly end of the scale. Suggestions?
Thanks guys.

Firstly it shouldn’t be empty….ordinarily they don’t drink water…
Could be a number of things but some of the more common are EGR valves..

There are 2 parts to the tank.
The bit near the cap should be empty.
If you look nearer the front and lower down this should have coolant in.
On the side should be two lines marked Min and Max. COLD. See if coolant is there.
Coolant should also be visible near the top pipe.
If the coolant is orange, you require OAT 5 year coolant
You can buy it ready mixed.
or concentrated, which you mix approx. 50/50 with water (follow manufactures instructions)
Don't mix the wrong type as it will block the system.
