Given that I have a phone made in the 20th century, I can't get a LR cradle to fit my 06 D3. Therefore it's Bluetoth connection only, which isn't really a problem now you can get the address book downloaded.
So - the fin on the roof is useless (I think all the GPS gubbins is elsewhere).
Anyone know if you can get a blanking plate if I remove it? It would take a couple of inches off the height which would be very useful indeed (and clean up the look of the roof....)
Cheers

You could just buy the blanking plate from LR and swap it over I suppose.
I'm on the other side of this....I have a blanking plate (no PTI etc), but I'd like to fit the fin as I like the look of it....
I would offer to do a swap but I don't think it'd do either of us any good to have a big hole in the roof whilst we waited for the postman to do the delivery....it hasn't rained here for ages, but I doubt you'll have that kind of luck 2006 Discovery 3 TDV6 SE Auto Buckingham Blue

Didn't know LR made a blanking plate - if so it looks like we're away.

Roof fin is easy to fit, remove the upper trim panel housing the boot light inside the tailgate, then remove the 2 grab handles at either side to allow the headlining to drop a bit. Under the roof blank plate are 2 x 10mm nuts that you need to unfasten (bit awkward to get your hand in, I used a ratchet ring spanner) the blank then lifts out, pop the fin in the same place and re-fit the 10mm lock nuts. Took around 20 mins start to finish and really neatens the back end up. 2020 BMW X1 18d XDrive X-Line Auto

Is this the same for the glass topped models?
I have a small "u" shaped blanking plate on the piece of trim that joins the tailgate at the back, but the fin looks as if it would overlap forwards onto the glass. (2005 HSE)
If I knew it would fit, I'd rush off to TLO and buy one now.

There is a fin for glass roofs, slightly smaller than the metal roof version ISTR The End

Thank you, OK, I'm getting more interested... anyone know if it's as easy to fit on the glass tops?
