Reverse light positive...

Hi all,

I am installing a reverse cam after reversing into a car last week Embarassed ....... need to pick up the reverse light positive and negative...This powers the aftermarket cam when reverse is selected obviously.

I have had a search with no luck, does anyone have an idea of wiring for the rear clusters on a D4? It will really help as I don't have someone to select reverse so I can test it out....

Thanks for any help! Thumbs Up

CAN Bus systems don't work like that (as far as I'm aware). The whole light cluster has a supply, and ground, then the CAN system tells which lamp to light.

I use the fuse that drives the reverse lights on the trailer socket behind the glovebox using an "add-a-fuse". Mines a D3, but the D4 wiring diagram I have indicates it's fuse 11 in the CJB.

Checking the wiring diagram I have, reverse is the green wire on the tail light clusters and is sourced from fuse 12 in the CJB.

Pick up earth from any of the earth studs on either side in the back.

Thanks guys....

will try the green wire first....

I appreciate how the CAN works... but the positive will still only come live once reverse is selected so that's exactly what I need. I'll report back if green is the one. Thumbs Up

Colour code is GN, so it could be solid green, or green with a brown stripe I suppose.

You can deffinately take the reverse camera trigger off direct off the reverse light wire, I did the same with mine, i “think” it’s the purple/red but check with a meter, fairly simple to identify once you have the light cluster off.
