locking operating without using FOB |
|
Hi all,
My D3 is locking intermittently without my using the key fob, happens at any time and I dare not leave the keys inside while unlocked. I also have to relock it sometimes when locked so the unlock will work.
I am suspecting perhaps a faulty sensor or FOB. has anyone had this problem?
If a door is left open and it locks by itself the horn goes off to indicate the unlocked door, most annoying for the neighbors!
I have sprayed contact cleaner on the DS bonnet latch and removed that electrical plug and sprayed that also.
Can anyone give me any suggestions how to approach this problem?
Cheers

Do you have 2 working keys. ?
Try putting your usual key in a tightly sealed metal tin, in the house and use the spare key for a bit.
See if that stops it.
Obviously the car re locks itself after 60s if it thinks no door has been opened.
If you think this could be the cause, check all door switches trigger lights/dash warning door open

It could be a faulty door catch.
Normally if you unlock the car but dont open a door it will relock after a short time, if switch inside the door catch is faulty it might not recognise that you opened the door.
Does the interior light come on every time you open the door? Andrew

Thanks for the replies.
No codes showing on the GAP that relate to the problem.
Yes have 2 working keys will try your suggestion Pete, the car will relock itself several times when it is "in the mood"
As there are no relative fault codes haw do I ascertain which door lock may be faulty?
Cheers

You open the door and ensure
1) The lights go from off to on.
2) You check the dash says DOOR OPEN.
I'm not convinced it that at fault, as the horn wouldn't sound on re-arm, but its worth eliminating

Hi Pete K,
Yes does both things.
Haven't had any trouble today with the other FOB isolated, it is certainly well worn, I have ordered another and will program it in on arrival.
Thanks for your help.
Cheers
