Engine seized solid in either direction, turn flexplate ?
I am trying to remove the engine from gearbox, to remedy the broken crankshaft.
The engine will not move in either direction, it is even possible to undo the very tight crank pulley bolt.
What is the easiest method for moving/turning the flexplate in order to undo the bolts?

Normally you can turn them a few degrees in one direction from the front that then allows you to turn the flexi plate by a few degrees. Its a pain but you can usually get them to turn enough to get all four bolts out by working it back and forawrd.
It not you will have to pull the torque converter out with the engine but a lot of oil will come out.Andrew

Thats all I could think of, just taking it out with the converter attached.
I have drained the gearbox oil, can you think of any other tactics ?

Have you taken the body off? You need to lift the engine and gearbox up quite high to get the sump to clear the front axle if your removing the TC with the engine.
Normally the engine slides forward until it touches the axle and then lifts up but with the extra length of the TC it wont come far enough forward to clear the gearbox, i dont know if removing the sump makes a difference if you still have the body on.Andrew

I have taken the body off.
Do you think it will clear the front axle ok provided I raise the engine/gearbox enough?

Yes it does i have done it a couple of times, you have to disconnect the front propshaft to allow the gearbox to come up enough and you have to support the gearbox so it doesnt drop down once it clears the engine.
If you are able it would almost be easier to remove the engine and gearbox together, i have not done it this way but there are only a few extra things to remove to make it possible.Andrew

Well it all came apart ok!
Now I have to get the torque converter off.
Undo the sump and loosen the crankshaft looks like the best option.

Yes I think the block is scrap.
I am going to see if I can fit the heads on a 2.7 block, can anyone think of any problems?
