Loch Lomond

Hi to any anglers on this forum.
I am looking to coarse fish loch Lomond for a week or two in January/February/March no matter which month,is there anybody out there to help me with advice?, as where to start, the parking situation, and where stay in a b@b or even where there is a hikers lodge for cheap overnight accommodation.
I have been searching and found some relevant information and cost, some are so ridiculous it makes me wonder how they get anybody to stay at their places.
Cheap and cheerful that's me.
I have visited Loch Lomond before and I do know its mega size but never fished it.
Yes I do know what I am doing and what to expect I have been fishing over 60 years and now on my last leg of life,so I need to do it now as my chemo is working well and am fit enough to get out for a few months.
So anybody got a barn, cattle shed, old sheep dip where I can put my head down,or anybody willing to guide me for half a day would be great.
Thanks
Pete.

Sorry to hear your health status and whilst I can't help you with any info about your trip, I wish you all the best for it and hope it's everything you'd want it to be.

You need a permit to fish Lomond
In the past there were 2 different ones dependung on what you were hoping to catch.

https://www.lochlomondangling.com/

Are the guys who run the system.

You might find accomodation thru some of the West Highland way sites

Plenty of camping sites around the lock, wild camping is allowed and free until April Thumbs Up

Just a thought!
Have you thought of a premier inn, one about 20mins drive from the bottom end of the loch at bannockburn.
Cheap, cheerful, warm, and a base to use. if you book in advance and exclude w/ends you can get a good deal! £25-40 per night. (worth a look on their site).

Try a meal at..... The Oak Tree Balmaha. Thumbs Up

Good health, and happy fishing Thumbs Up

Funny way to spell "Balloch".

Thank you all
I didn't receive any notification of replies as I was logged out for some unknown reason so sorry for late replies.
The hotel sounds quite good but the wild camping better which I presume could be beside the lake.
As for licences I have read that the coarse fishing is free but fly fishing is chargeable, still either way I don't mind paying as I fully support all anglers and clubs etc so as to protect our fishing.
Some angling clubs only allow membership within a certain distance and the ones I looked at are all mainly fly fishing.

Anyone know Balmaha as it was suggested I stay around that area.

I haven't been lazy and searched many online blogs and information but it is so hard to grasp which is the right way to go, some say this some say that and confusing in the licences needed.
Hence me asking on the forum as I thought there must be some anglers here to assist, there may well be but are holding their cards tight to there chest, and I don't blame them because since covid first started the influx of new anglers has tripled and the lakes and rivers are overcrowded especially down here in the south and have caused so much bad publicity with their litter and discarded line/hooks etc that people are asking to ban angling a terrible state of affairs I must say.
Me I am a like to get away from the crowds type of person and in winter in Scotland what a better place to be.

The Balmaha side of the loch is shallow until you travel further up towards rowardenen and the road ends.
I have seen loads of fishermen park up and camp for the weekend on the other side (A82) of the loch from Luss northwards, this is where the loch deepens and there are less boaters about.
The boat yard at Balmaha runs a ferry system to the islands on the loch.
Had you been coming in summer months we could have had you out for the day on a long liner for a spot of fishing as I have a mate who keeps his boat at Balmaha but its away for the winter.
I'm not far from Luss (35mins) and if theres anything I can assist with let me know
