Another Front LCA post - B6 Armoured vs standard bush?

Sorry guys if this is covered elsewhere, if it is I’ve missed it - I’ve trawled every D3 and D4 post about replacing/upgrading the front lower control bushes and/or arms, but I haven't found any direct comparison about lower arm ball joint sizes.

As I understand it, the best replacement option on the D3/4 is to upgrade to RRS arms.

(It's also a given to avoid poor quality aftermarket stuff and I take on board the general advice to stay away from poly bushes on the LCA, but that's not the issue here).

With that in mind, I also understand that the later D4's already have the 35mm ball joint (not sure what size the early ones are or when the change was made, if any (i.e. was it just later D3's/all D4's or just later D4's etc).

In any case, I am I correct in thinking that seeing as the D4 B6 armoured LCA part number is the as the 2005-2009 RRS TDV8 that the same arms (D4 B6/RRS TDV8) are a straight bolt on to a late D4? Mine is in a MY16 D4 in the GA780000 - GA80000 range.

Specifically, I am looking to install: -

B6 Arms : - LR029303 and LR029305 (V) AA000001 Onwards

in lieu of:

Standard Arms : - LR073367 and LR073369 (V) EA184498 - GA816748

As far as I am aware it’s a straight swap based on members fitting RRS arms, but I don’t want to order up the arms and find out they don’t fit due to a ball joint issue etc.

I plan to buy Genuine LR or more likely an OEM arm, probably from AF or Rimmer Bros? Should clarify not a 'Britpart OEM' arm though.

As I say, I know this topic has been covered to death, but any further guidance on the B6/RRS arms and the 35mm ball joint is appreciated!

303/305 are RRS arms

Don't bother though, fit Meyle HD. Superior to anything else available Thumbs Up

Thanks Gents,

I did come accross a previous post where Mikely advised he fits taht in the firsty instance, - unless the customer specifically wants somthing cheaper.

My only concern is that accross teh forums i've read more than one post also saying that the longevity of the soild bush comes at the expense of more vibration through the steering wheel?

I'm happy to fit these myself, i'd even do my own tracking if I could (done many time on other cars with string and axle but that not the best way for a decent reliable 4 wheel alignment on the D4!

Sorry forgot to shout out and say thanks @nigethecat for highlighting the AF forum discount too!

I think i'm gonna go with the recomended arm by @Disco_Mikey, however I wiill put some effort into the originals off withought cutting (destroying) so I can refurb them, pop some new bushes in over time and put them on the shelf as sapres for the future.

The origianls have lasted 87k so properly installed and torqued I should get at last that out of the Meyle HD's...

We've fitted (literally!) hundreds of sets of these, and never had a complaint about ride quality or harshness etc

Also, never had to replace a set of Meyle arms after fitting, in over 5 years Thumbs Up

Had mine replaced at 5yrs & 24k Rolling Eyes with Meyle HD, thank you warranty direct. Felt a lot tighter, maybe some slight harshnes for 50 miles or so, fine now, no complaints, going to put meyle HD on polo.
