And I'd bet the repair is stronger than an original D3/D4 crank ! I want to see the sweets before I get into your windowless van... I'm not stupid!

If I had an irreplaceable broken crankshaft I might consider shipping it to this bloke for repair. The repair has been made by the look of it using 2 salvageable crankshafts. When the metal is turned it looks like it is a forged steel crank which is weldable. There are many quality/man hour issues which would probably dissuade the Discovery owner using this course of repair. One of them being the Lion engine seems to break in the same section of crankshaft. Kudos to the engineer, he is making the best of his situation.

And not a computer or microchip involved anywhere in this.
This is real craftsmanship.

Yeah it's great to watch, especially his confidence and conviction in going about what for most of us would provide a bit of head scratching. I suppose when you're doing it every day, but even so he's acquired the right skills and uses them to full effect.
Old school way that brings me back to my youth, he needs a new wire brush though. yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Health and safety not very much in focus there, but you've got to give him credit for the welding mask and the cardboard-over-the-sandal protector
Impressive work though, and a crankshaft that probably will last for many a mile
