Not that I know much of the Japanese market, but having used a metric crap ton of toll passes in USA, I think there might be another part of the unit somewhere. I mean, unless things have changed drastically in the last X years the passes themselves are the size of a credit card (at least) and that box isn’t going to fit one. If you’re removing the screen you might want to see where the cables go. Of course, it might be that one has been removed previously before the vehicle left Japan.

Yeah I've already removed some of it. This is is how the power was sourced behind the glovebox, the Toll gadget had been piggy-backed off fuse F53, which seems a bit sloppy to me.

Definitely toll collection you might have a card reader somewhere as well. I just removed the whole lot from mine.
