Steering rack recommendations - Getting desperate
I am really struggling to find a decent steering rack company.
So far the forum has recommended me Lion - but their google reviews are absolutely shocking.
My favourite so far is Western Power Steering
Advanced factors have stopped doing rack exchanges because of the issues I have been having. They were previously using CPS Drivelink who have now sent me two faulty racks and 1 LDV van rack.
AF have been as helpful as they can be but have now left it with me to find my own supplier.
Can anyone with some confidence recommend a supplier?
Alternatively if someone can source a new rack, at this stage I would consider it.
Cheers

As a rule I never fit or recommend used or recon steering parts. (Or any non static part for that matter) However, if you're stuck it might be worth giving these guys a bell. https://www.gentlemenofsalvage.co.uk/colle...26%20Boxesyµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Is it even possible to buy new? I haven't looked too hard but I haven't seen anything.
Do D4 racks fit the D3?
If I can't go new. I think Ill be going with WPS and fingers crossed its all good. My D3 hasn't had proper alignment for over a year now.
Cheers.

Not available new from LR except as recon exchange part. D4 and D3 are different so it's either a recon or used unfortunately.yµ (idµ - eAµ) ψ=mψ

Gone with WPS, arriving tomorrow.
Spoken with customer services twice so far and seem pretty decent on that front at least.
Fingers crossed this one will see me through another 145k miles.

Any update, how did you get on with WPS? In the same position, need a new rack but non-existent apart from Genuine LR recons or LRParts.net seem to be the only people stocking cheaper version.
ThanksTony

Very happy with WPS.
5,500 miles so far and absolutely fine with no sign of that changing.

Just to update on this. My WPS unit failed after 1 year, unsure on mileage but about 12,000. No fuss on the warranty replacement but still expensive given labour, oil and £25 postage. It also seems that the recon unit has been reassembled poorly in that the pinion is out of position on the rack (to be verified). No amount of adjustment will straighten the steering wheel so it'll have to come off and be put back on straight.
Spoke with Duckworth who managed to find NEW units for £720+VAT. Very much wish I had gone with new genuine when the first one failed.

A painful way to find out, but thanks for the update.
What was the failure mode of the original rack that caused you to need a new one?Richard

Knocking in the rack, quite a bit of play.
And can't prove otherwise but im fairly sure this has caused premature failure of the lower column which is also getting replaced under warranty. Genuine part, fitted 1 year.
