Heater Matrix

Just a catch up about replacing the heater matrix during last winter. As found on this excellent site how to get the matrix out without removing the dashboard. Did as recommended and with a hacksaw cut about 150mm off the left foot end of the centre consul. And yes, there it was, the matrix end in full technicolour. Purchased a replacement matrix without the pipes from eBAY. It was brass and manufactured in the UK. Took the vehicle to the local country garage. Explained the problem, they were aware of the issue. Got them to put the vehicle on the ramp, showed them what I had done to the trim and would they change the matrix at my responsibility. They said a very bemused yes. It took them a couple hours. They were happy someone had given them an alternative solution to dismantling their Disco 3 customers dashboards. So now into a second winter and all is warm and well. I recommended they seek their LR3/4 solutions here!
Cheers All. Bow down Bow down

It's not always easy to get a workshop to take on a job that has been started elsewhere, so well done in persuading them on that front.

If you have any links to the parts you purchased it will be of assistance to other members considering taking on the job themselves. Thumbs Up

FWIW, the Nissens one that AF sells comes with pipes separate from the new heater core. You don’t have to use the new ones. Fits both D3 and D4 of course. Similarly. the Nissens radiator, at least for D3 V8, is “known good”.

Hmmm, indeed! Shocked . If JLR sells then with pipes welded they are probably fitted from some model year forward like that, too, from the factory.

ALL D4s have 1 piece matrix + pipes, so it's full dash out...

Genuine LR D3 matrix is 1 piece now

Nissens sell the matrix and pipes separately Thumbs Up

Heater Matrix

Someone asked who supplied the replacement no pipes heater matrix. Just stumbled across the invoice. It was MOTORADS online. www.motoradsonline.co.uk sales@motoradsonline.co.uk They are in Redditch.

The part number is eBay Item No. 303307563641, £81.00 inc VAT. Invoice dated 10th August 2020.

Hope this helps. Thumbs Up
