Much difference between genuine and the available aftermarket ones?

Better fit and finish I think. My take from the posts on here is that you have to fettle the aftermarket ones quite a bit. Also, it’s said that the plastic cappings tend to become detached more easily on the aftermarket ones.
I bought genuine for my Freelander and I’ve never had any problems. Got them for a good price from the Duckworth’s tent at Billing.
Still deciding whether to buy aftermarket or go genuine for full length bars on the D4. If the one’s above had been black I would get definitely get them.Discovery 4 HSE - Aintree Green

Hmm. I'm keen to swap my black ones for silver. Might satisfy us both? I'll drop you a pm later today.

If of interest to anyone, I’ve got a set of brand new aftermarket long rails in black for sale……. cheap!!
Been running aftermarket one for a few years and they’re ok.
The powder coating isn’t great on the internal runners, it seems just to be dusted on.
For me though that’s not a huge issue as you can’t see it unless on top of the roof.
Main thing is that the powder coating on the sides are fine.
Never had an issue with the caps not fitting, but they can loose colouring through pressure washing, but they just needs clipped off and re sprayed in satin black.
But best bet is …not to pressure wash!
I would rather buy genuine LR however the price difference doesn’t warrant it imo.
