Disco 4 - timing belts and cost, time to replace
Booked in a timing belt and chain replacement with JLR, assuming oil pump, filter and oil change etc to be repaired. How much should I be expecting ££££ or ££££££££? and how long would the service centre take to replace and repair?

If you booked it in for belts you will get belts, you will have to ask for extras.

LR dealer had mine for 2 days..... and still screwed it up as it was recovered back to them 2 days later rattling like a good 'un when they then had it for almost 2 weeks.
Dealer price to change both belts should be around £1300 -£15002011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Belts can be replaced same day
We charge £650 Inc VAT, and this includes front belt + tensioner, both idler pulleys, rear belt and tensioner and aux belt My D3 Build Thread

Sorry to hijack this thread, but Disco_Mikey could you just say if the work for this job is similar on a Discovery 5 tdv6. I ask because of it being a monocoque chassis rather than integrated chassis like on the D3/4

I had mine done at LR main dealer under the 3+ scheme for £695, alongside a full service (total bill was £1200). The receipt they gave me stated both belts had been done but it was the rear belt that almost let loose within 48 hours resulting in them having it for almost 2 weeks when i presume they had the body off.
Further checks revealed that under the 3+ scheme only the front belt was changed, even though they receipted me for both.
Would have been easier for me to drive to your place across the border and stay for a couple of days break. 2011 D4 XS 305 MY12 - gone but not forgotten

Belts are changed as part of the 7 year service, so make sure it’s being serviced as well as as the belts. - If you asked for a 7 year service, you should get belts and service, but if you asked only for belts, you might not get the service - just worth checking!
What chain are they replacing? Cam shafts?
